This is an independent contractor position so there is not a set salary or hourly wage... it's commission based on your sales and it pays about 2-3 weeks after each client travels. As your sales grow, your commission split gets higher. The commission levels start at a 60% (IC) / 40% (4MTC) split and can go as high as 85/15.
You decide on the time, place, hours, etc. for working as long as you're serving your clients in a timely manner.
You can decide just to focus on certain destinations to sell or be open to whatever comes your way. It's up to you.
Clients will largely come from your own advertising/marketing although if a new lead comes in from our website that has not indicated an agent, those are sent to agents on a round robin basis. Referrals and social media tend to be the largest source of clients for our agents.
Quote and book vacation packages, rental cars, ground transportation, vacation protection/travel insurance policies, as well as purchase activity tickets and stroller and scooter rentals on behalf of a client using the Agency’s industry accreditation credentials by following all Agency rules and guidelines.
Ensure that all client payments are processed to the supplier directly and are processed on time as requested by the client and required by the supplier. The travel agent will never receive payment directly from a client for travel services sold.
Supply all clients with required travel documentation for the client’s travel as well as additional items considered best practice, such as package item explanations, tips and tricks sheets, and/or an itinerary for the client’s travel.
All travel expenses, business supplies, online service subscriptions, marketing materials, computer or laptop, and/or cell or home phone line(s)
The required Technology Fee covers a subscription for the Agency’s Customer Relations Management (CRM) system usage as well as covers half the cost of the IC’s Agency email address and Google Workspace that will be provided to maintain Agency branding: $20 per month
Travel benefits eligibility is earned once the IC has reached the third level of the 4MTC commission tiers. The IC may apply and pay ($110/yr) for membership with the Cruise Line International Association (CLIA) at that time, which is used for travel benefits and discounts through suppliers.
ICs may be invited to particular “Agent Education Programs,” “Familiarization Trips,” webinars, and/or other in-person training seminars for a particular supplier or destination. The Agency may also host a training trip on-site at a particular destination to help continue the Independent Contractor’s professional development. These will always be optional.
